My time on Fae Farm saw me wearing a lot of different hats. The team was relatively small so I jumped around to help on a lot of different things.
Some of my favorite tasks:
Built a weather and time of day system that allowed for easy customization and control by designers and level artists.
Implementing a customization system and UI that lets the user customize everything from their skin color to their furniture.
Built out a tool that let our writers write and collaborate in Google Docs as they preferred that could then be imported directly into the game in Unreal with the press of a button (localization included).
Built out a tool for taking the hundreds of in-game items, costumes, etc and generating icons for them that were game-ready saving a ton of UI art time.
Built a camera system that let the narrative team smoothly transition from gameplay to specific camera shots for things like reveals, cinematics and conversations.
Worked with other TA's and engineering to profile the game and squeeze every ounce of performance we could out of the Switch.
Developing and maintaining special shaders for our awesome creatures.
